October 2010 - Andrew Kiss at Altitude
Altitude Art Gallery was proud to host one of the
largest collections of original works by
Andrew Kiss in one Gallery.
Beginning with a reception for friends, clients and
newcomers to Andrew's work, and following up with a day
painting in the Gallery for an audience of enthusiastic
followers on Saturday, the event was a great success.
Such was the demand that Andrew took an encore by
returning the following Week-End to paint again.
Many of Andrew's works will remain on display at
Altitude, so why not visit and see what the excitement
was all about. Don't forget to let us know so that
you get advanced notice of up and coming shows,
including the next Andrew Kiss exhibition.
Sept 2010 - Murray Phillips and Roger D. Arndt at
Altitude
In September
Altitude Art hosted and exhibition of new works by Murray Phillips and Roger D. Arndt.
Heralded by an
Artists reception on September 9th, both Roger and Murray made the trip across the Rockies to
meet clients and friends of Altitude. They followed
this up by hosting a 3 day workshop at the gallery for 14
aspiring local artists from Okotoks and Calgary.
The week-end started for some of the group
with a trip down to our friends at Paintworks, with Murray, to see and talk first hand about the materials available
for today's artist. At the same time Roger demonstrated the creative process he goes through in starting a painting.
The rest of the week-end was spent with both artists sharing details about their techniques and
passing on countless hints amongst the group.
Thanks to all that attended and to Murray and Roger for their time. We are hoping to have them back
for another workshop in the spring but in the meantime we have Jonn Einerssen
and Vance Theoret, also from the Western Lights Group,
coming to town from the 25th to 29th of November.
Altitude opens to great reviews.
After several hitches that delayed the original planned early May
opening, Altitude Art & Custom Framing opened
its doors with its "Opening Artists Reception" on May
27th. With wine flowing and the band playing, it
was time to take a brief rest for everyone involved in
getting the gallery ready. And judging from the
feedback from those who attended it was all
worth while.
Despite the sudden return of Winter many of our artists
turned out from far afield including Al Weitzel's dash
from Saskatoon, Murray Phillips, plus trailer
tent, from BC. and Michael Shopa from the slightly
closer and less snowy Edmonton. Wendy Palmer,
Andrew Kiss, Paula Henchell, Jason Kamin, Michelle Pilon and Earl Klatzel
were amongst the Calgary artists present.

Thanks to everyone who came, and if you couldn't make it
then drop by and see what all the fuss was about. We'd love to show you works by these and many other artist
.
